Using Field Motion Capture to Understand and Enhance Sports Performance
The DIGISPORT University Research School is organizing its first international Winter School from November 25 to 27, 2024, at Rennes 2 University. Over two and a half days, through plenary sessions and practical workshops, it will be an opportunity to focus on the use of motion capture in field situations to understand and enhance sports performance.
Specifically, this first edition will focus on the critical and practical application of motion capture technology in real-world sports contexts to understand and improve athletic performance, particularly through the implementation of inertial measurement units (IMUs) and markerless motion capture systems. The use of sensors directly on the field is fundamental, especially for high-level performance, as it provides precise, context-specific data that cannot be replicated in controlled environments. This approach is essential for developing accurate performance metrics and training methods tailored to the unique demands of various sports.
Finally, you will have the opportunity to see these technologies in action and understand their impact on performance improvement in real-world conditions, with access to training venues for swimming and pole vaulting.
